Illinois Climate and Agriculture
Abstract
How do climate factors affect Illinois com and soybean production and prices?
Illinois serves as part the heart of America's prime farmland. In this study, 12 spatially
representative sites are chosen on the bases of spatial equality and completeness of the
data. Regression analysis is preformed on the data with surface maps of the results
compiled. Results indicate that there are indeed significant statistical relationships
between dependent (com or soybean price) and independent (precipitation, temperature,
and com or soybean yield) variables. Engaging geographic patterns are found in the
maps of the results.
