Kinetic Study of Hydride Transfer of a Caffeine Derivative
Abstract
A synthetic heterocyclic compound 7, 8-dihydro-9-methylcaffiene(CAFH) can go through the process of a hydride transfer. The kinetic data showed that the mechanism was not a simple one-step process but contained a transition step. The mechanism demonstrated that the reaction first produced a cation intermediate and then a hydrogen transfer from CAFH to AcrH+ClO4-. The further steps for this mechanism are to find a way to use it for a purpose such as to explore biological reactions.
