    Abstract
The United States is a nation with reliable economic power for citizens. Unfortunately, not every issue can be focused on with the same care as other issues. Although there is more environmental awareness due to better environmental education in schools, citizens still view the environment as only a secondary issue which can be contributed to components such as race, and age. This paper will show that people of the current generation (born within the last 25 years) are more willing to spend governmental money on the environment due to the influence of better education than those from past generations (people born later than 26 years ago) In addition, racial groups have different perspectives about environmental spending which could be due to different environmental experiences. But in the end, people are still hesitant to make environmental changes due to the belief that certain environmental issues may sacrifice economic stability and freedom. To try to prove this assumption, surveys focused on citizen’ opinions about environmental issues were examined. Also cross-tabulation test for surveys were ran to see if economic components play a role in peoples perceptions about the environment.
