The Influence of Bertrand Russell's Educational Philosophy on American Public Education

Philosophy and education influence the lives of every person on the planet. Since each teacher's methodology is based on that individual's own philosophy of education, the study of philosophy is important to teachers, students, philosophers, and society. This study will attempt to provide information and documentation pertaining to Bertrand Russell's philosophy of education and a definition of philosophy of education. At the same time, this study will point out the elements of Russell's philosophy of education and how he described teaching. In the study, another element is incorporated, the American educational system. The study includes an overview of Russell's role in the progressivist movement to find out if he influenced the progressivist movement in the American educational system.
