A Case Study of the Circle of Courage, a Character Education Program, at One Middle School

The purpose of this study was to conduct a case study of the character education program at one middle school. The character education program used at the school is the Circle of Courage which is part of the Bridges Program. The Bridges Program is a regular/alternative education program for secondary students in a southeastern Wisconsin school district. The Bridges Program strives to meet the district's mission: "To successfully educate all students to reach their fullest intellectual, academic, and social/emotional and physical potential." This case study was designed to examine and compare the goals of the character education program, the Circle of Courage, at the middle school and the actual practice of teaching those goals in selected classrooms.
