The Positives of Extracurricular Participation and Guidelines for Future Success
Abstract
The information in this paper addresses a number of key points relevant to
extracurricular participation. First, an argument is given for the many benefits of
extracurricular participation. Some of which include improved attendance and
grades, greater self-esteem, and increased engagement. Moreover, attention is given
to the elements of successful extracurricular participation that might possibly
contribute to the preceding outcomes such as mentorship, belonging, and challenge.
The paper also presents factors that benefit extracurricular participation including
duration, amount, and pattern of participation. In conclusion, a number of key
elements for a successful dance program are presented, as well as some important
steps to take.
