A Unit Plan Based on the Alignment of an Illinois State Goal and Principles in the Circle of Courage
MetadataShow full item record
This study was conducted to develop a plan for a social studies unit on United States political systems by aligning Illinois State Goal 14 with the reclaiming principles of the Circle of Courage. A cross check matrix was used to check for points of convergence between key words and phrases from Illinois State Goal 14 and the four central values of the Circle of Courage as a preliminary to writing unit goals. Next, a backward design was used to select appropriate assessments and learning strategies to address each of the unit goals. The unit plan that resulted was designed for use with students with emotional disturbances and behavioral disorders although it could be appropriate for use with all general education students and most other special education students.
