dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using pictures with Total Physical Response on second language vocabulary recognition and acquisition. Two groups of students were taught 25 Spanish vocabulary words. The control group was taught with Total Physical Response. The experimental group was taught with Total Physical Response paired with pictures depicting the Spanish vocabulary. Both groups were given the same pretest, immediate posttest and delayed posttest to determine if there was any significant difference between the scores of the students in the control and experimental groups. The vocabulary was taught over a two-week period, five new vocabulary words were taught per class. The results from the study show that using a picture paired with Total Physical Response produced no significant difference in immediate posttest scores nor delayed posttest scores.en_US
