The Psychological Needs of Athletes During Injury, Rehabilitation, and Upon Return to Play
Abstract
It is becoming increasingly more important to make sure the psychological needs of
injured athletes are bring met, yet there is very little research conducted to address the
issue. This study utilizes a confidence inventory to determine if the psychological needs
of athletes from a small Midwestern college were being met in the athletic training room.
The results of the study were not brought to general findings because there was a lack of
participants, therefore the study as a whole should be reexamined to see if the results can
be generalized. This study should be used as a template for further research into the
psychological needs of injured athletes.
