Instructional Application of Cognitive Film Theory in Upper-Division Spanish Courses
Abstract
This study examined the pedagogic application of
cognitive film theory within upper-division Spanish
classes. The study also included fifteen advanced students
who watched the movie Tesis (Thesis), by Spanish director
Alejandro Amenabar, and completed a number of previewing,
viewing and postviewing activities derived from Bordwell's
cognitive film theory. These activities allowed the
students to practice their Spanish skills and learn about
contemporary Spanish cinema and culture.
