An English Curriculum for Chinese Seventh Graders
Abstract
The purpose of this project was to develop a seventh grade curriculum to be used in China. The development of a curriculum which is project based is the goal of the Chinese educational establishment but old practices such as all the important tests still exist, making this curriculum useful yet difficult, at present, to implement. This project conforms to the demands of the new curricular reform. The project provides references for the teachers and suggests how to better implement the new reforms. Current teachers in China like what is written but point out the difficulties, at this point, of full implementation. Highlights of this work include: communicative competence, critical thinking, the use of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The work was reviewed by American curricular experts before the final draft was written.
