This project was created in response to the need for creating a solid emergent literacy foundation for pre-kindergarten aged students. If all students are given a solid foundation in pre-kindergarten then they might not fall behind, but instead keep up with peers who come from literacy rich homes. These emergent literacy skills include phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and oral language. The emergent literacy guide provides pre-kindergarten teachers with activities to develop emergent literacy skills, classroom set up ideas, and assessment tools to use in their classroom.en_US
