Research Study of Evidence Based Advantages of Private School Education During the Primary School Years
Abstract
Numerous previous comparison studies have been conducted with the purpose of gaining an understanding based on data about the differences between private and public education. These studies have concluded that for a variety of reasons there are great challenges in comparing public versus private education. It is, however, important for parents of primary school-age children to obtain data-based evidence about academic and social skills that every child needs in order to develop and experience success along with a love of learning in school. Areas of education investigated in this study deal with: effective academic instruction especially in the subject areas of reading and mathematics, factors in the school environment where the student's learning strengths and challenges are known by the teacher, program differentiation based on the student's learning profile, a sense of belonging to a community and having meaningful relationships with others, along with a sense of personal and physical safety that allows the student to focus on doing their best
academic work in the classroom. Parents, today, are seeking information that will support their decision on whether to place their young child in a private school or in one of the well-regarded public or parochial schools in the southeastern Wisconsin area.
