Achieve 3000: Effectiveness of Interventions for Struggling Readers
Abstract
As educators, it is important to understand how to best support all of our students to access the content. This thesis project researched an online literacy intervention program, Achieve 3000™, along with the best practices of reading intervention and instruction to best support a wide range of students. The research was then used to create an example lesson plan and a guide for educators and future educators. The guide includes an example of a lesson plan, differentiated level of support and instruction, station rotation model to support reading instruction, and examples of differentiated documents to support student learning. The guide and lesson plan are meant to be a brief and informative resource for educators. The guide and lesson plan can be used as a template for any content area lesson to help support and motivate students while engaging in reading.
