Quizizz, The Case of an Educational App in Spanish as Foreign Language Classrooms
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of implementing an educational
app, Quizizz, on motivation and vocabulary test scores. The study was conducted with
undergraduates in Spanish language courses from a college located in a mid-western state. Four
rosters of students (N=50) in 1020 (Basic 2) divided into an experimental and a control group
participated in the study. This study analyzed data gathered with the Intrinsic Motivation
Inventory (IMI) questionnaire, class observations and test scores. The researcher performed a
multiple analysis of variance (MANOVA) and a correlation analysis to determine if there was a
difference among the participant groups regarding motivation and vocabulary test scores. The
results showed that the use of the educational app did have a significant impact on motivation
levels and vocabulary tests scores of the experimental group in comparison to the control group.
