Using Chinese Experiences in Children's Plays to Teach Multiculturalism
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest ways to use children's plays about China to increase chidren's awareness of cultural diversity and to develop their cross-cultural competence. By examining the language, the characters, the plot and the cultural traditions exposed it was found that the selected plays present useful material to introduce muticulturalism to children. The plays' analysis provides strategies that are helpful in the students' development of critical judgment and that are structured to be applicable to the classroom.
