    Abstract
The thesis "Fatherhood: Role Models, Teachers, and Threats in Hamlet, Things Fall Apart and Lee's examines the archetypal "search for the absent (and acceptable) father" and its related issues through the diverse genres, cultures, and historical periods presented in the three texts. In addition, the thesis explores the thematic interrelatedness of the material, developing it as a justification for the unit of study.
