This study presents a guide on how to adapt children's literature, specifically picture books, for the teaching of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the elementary grades at public schools in Bogota-Colombia. The theory of action is taken as the most practical way for teachers to develop tools and methods for the benefit of their students. Five lesson plans intended for the first three elementary grades show how teachers can use arts activities under the communicative approach method based on the content and presentation of pictures books, according to the purpose of the EFL class.en_US
