A Translation Course Designed to Convey the Cultural Meaning of the Text

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to design a translation course in which undergraduate Colombian students of Spanish and English produce an accurate idiomatic translation. The analysis of the social, historical, economic, political or religious references found in the text enables the students to render a more precise translation conveying the attitudes and way of thinking of the cultures involved.
