AIDS: Students' Knowledge and Attitudes at a Midwestern College

One hundred students at a Midwestern college were surveyed to assess their knowledge levels of AIDS and to determine if there were gender differences regarding AIDS knowledge between male and female college students. Results suggest that these students possess moderate knowledge regarding preventio~ modes of transmission, and general information about AIDS though they were unclear about the transmission of the disease through casual contact. Data analysis indicated that there were gender differences in the items regarding general knowledge of AIDS and knowledge of transmission. No gender difference was found in the items concerning prevention.
