Parent Involvement and Multiple Intelligences: The Design of a Handbook for Parents
Abstract
One purpose of this study was to examine the effects of parent involvement throughout a child's education. Strategies were proposed to increase parent involvement in multiple intelligences schools. Data were first collected then organized into a handbook designed to give parents suggestions on how to improve their involvement in their children's education. Another purpose of this study was to give parents of students, involved in a multiple intelligences school, background on the theory and practice of teaching through the multiple intelligences. The handbook designed as a result of this study also included information about Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. This study is significant because it gives parents a perspective on the impact of early and continuous parent involvement. Parents are also made aware of the theory of multiple intelligences and how to recognize and encourage their children's strong intelligences.
