In light of the publication of Raymond Brown's The Community of the Beloved Disciple, many have based their interpretation of certain biblical texts on his theory that one may read John's Gospel not only as a narrative story about an evangelist's picture of Jesus Christ but also as a clue to the experiences, setting, and nature of the Johannine community. It is with this approach that I consider John 20:1-18. This exegesis will attempt to examine the textual problems found in these verses.en_US
