    4cr Implicit in most discussions of long-term and large-scale social change is the idea of progress. Students taking this course will consider the question of progress by critically examining long-term and large-scale social change over the past 20,000 years. Each student taking this course will be required to engage our social scientific understanding large-scale social change over the past 20,000 to creatively and constructively develop his or her position concerning the question of progress.
