Senior Voice Recital by Nathan Takahashi
MetadataShow full item record
My senior thesis will be completed through an hour-long solo performance, capped with a thirty-minute song cycle that is a culmination of two years’ worth of preparation. I will venture through the works of Charles Gounod, G.F. Handel, Christoph Gluck, and Robert Schumann. The pinnacle of this performance will be the entirety of Schumann’s 16-piece song cycle Dichterliebe. Additionally, translations, as well as program notes, will be available for audience members. My Vocal Study includes eight terms of private voice with Greg Berg, one term with Kurt Link, two terms of Opera Workshop, one term of Music Theatre Workshop, and eight terms with Carthage Choir. Music History and Vocal Diction/Literature expanded my knowledge and understanding of classical pieces and languages. The experience of creating this recital with this body of work will drive me to a better understanding of the repertoire and process for future use as a music educator.
