4cr Introduces students to the sociological study of sports. Focusing on organized sport as a social institution, this course examines how sports reflect, reproduce, and transform social life. Students will critically examine the positive and negative impacts of sports on society, particularly in regard to issues of class, race, gender, politics, and socialization.
