dc.description.abstractThe axolotl is a salamander that is indigenous to the Xochimilco Complex near Mexico City, and is on the brink of extinction in the wild. As ecologist Richard Griffiths sates, “The axolotl is a complete conservation paradox. This is because it’s probably the most widely distributed amphibian around the world in pet shops and labs, and yet it’s almost extinct in the wild” (Vance, 2017). This research takes a look at habitat analysis for possible axolotl introduction in the United States through four possible lakes in Shallow, Beckman, Yellowstone, and Axolotl Lakes. Tow of the most important environmental conditions for the axolotl include adequate water temperatures and dissolved oxygen levels, which are the main parameters tested in this research paper.en
