SubjectPost Office; United States Post Office; USPS; Carthage Illinois; Postmaster; Missing Letters; Advertising; Dallas City, Illinois
This notebook, discovered among the records in the Carthage Biology Department, documents Tandy's work as an artist and Postmaster in Dallas City, Illinois. In those days, letters which could not be delivered were advertised in a local paper before being sent to the dead letter office. Tandy's sketches show how the post office advertised their letters each month in accordance with USPS regulations.
A combination of lost letter advertisements, letters to Alice Kibbe, portraits, and botanical drawings.
